Queen Esther Would Kill For These!
What’s Cooking Today? 👩🏻🍳
I am thrilled to bring you the very first edition of my newsletter, which will focus on the fun of Purim and the joy of creating delicious, easy-to-prepare Kosher recipes with children.
I will guide you through my child-friendly tie-dye cookie recipe, ensuring that the process is not just delicious, but also educational and entertaining.
Let’s Cook Tie-Dye Cookies! 🥄
This is what you will need for this recipe: 🥣
Ingredients 🧈🧂🥚
200g All Purpose Flour (1 & ⅓ Cups)
½ Teaspoon Baking Powder
¼ Teaspoon Salt
75g Butter or Margarine (⅓ Cup)
90g Caster Sugar (½ Cup)
1 Medium Egg
¼ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Red, Yellow, Blue/Green Food Colouring (Use at least 3)
Method 📖
Turn the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Line a baking tray with baking/greaseproof paper.
Weigh the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and set aside.
In another bowl, weigh the butter/margarine and sugar. Mix until pale yellow in colour and fluffy. Add vanilla extract.
Crack the egg into the glass dish to check for blood spots. Add egg to the butter/margarine/vanilla extract mixture. Mix well.
Blend the flour mixture, one scoop at a time, into the butter/margarine/vanilla extract mixture.
Measure and divide the dough into three equal parts. Place each part into a bowl.
Add three drops of each food colouring to each bowl to get one red, one yellow, and one blue/green. Mix well.
Using plastic gloves, take a small piece (about the size of a grape) of each colour and roll it into a ball.
Place each ball on the baking tray, leaving sufficient room between each ball of dough as the cookies will spread.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Remove the cookies from the sheet with a spatula and place them on the cooling rack.
When they are done, you will see how the cookies resemble tie-dye, each with its unique pattern.
