Here is a bonus Shavuot recipe! 

Try something fancy but simple and make Kreplach, a doughy cheeseball, that will impress your mum or grandma with your modern take on this traditional delight. This involves boiling and not frying or baking the dough, which is a different skill you will learn using this recipe. You can use your imagination and use your own style to roll and shape the dough the way you like.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Dough 🥚

  • 225g Flour

  • 1 Egg

  • 100ml Lukewarm Water

Ingredients for Fillings 🍇

  • 150g Cottage Cheese

  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar

  • 1 Egg Yolk

  • Pinch Salt

  • 1 Tablespoon Margarine

  • Raisins

Method 📖

To make the dough:

  1. To make the dough, weigh the flour into a large mixing bowl.

  2. Crack and check the egg and add it to the flour.

  3. Add the lukewarm water slowly until you have a soft dough mixture.

  4. Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and then cut into squares.

To make the filling:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, add the filling ingredients and mix.

  2. Now spoon a small amount of the mixture into the squares of dough.

  3. Fold over and press together to form a little “purse”.

  4. In the meantime, boil a saucepan of water.

  5. Once you have made all of your kreplach, drop two at a time into the boiling water.

  6. They will be ready when they float to the top.

  7. Remove with a spoon and add the next two kreplach.

Don’t Forget! 📌

This is a traditional recipe but you can give this a tweak by adding sour cream and sprinkle sugar on top to get a nice sweet-sour taste.
