A simple tomato sauce is such a versatile recipe to have in your repertoire. It can be used in some many different dishes. I have given you some ideas - read on!

This is what you will need for this recipe: π₯£π₯
Ingredients π π§π«π₯
2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1 Carrot
2 Brown Onions, sliced
2 Cloves Garlic, chopped
1 Can Chopped Tomatoes
1 Tablespoon Sugar
100ml Water (Just over a β of a cup)
Basil Leaves
Dried Parsley
Dried Oregano
Salt and Pepper
Method π
1. Heat Olive Oil: Place olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Cook Onions: Add the sliced onion to the saucepan and fry until it starts to soften
3. Add Carrots: Peel and slice the carrot into rounds, then add to the onions. Cook until softened
4. Add Tomatoes and Water: Stir in chopped tomatoes and water
5. Season the Sauce: Add herbs and seasonings to enhance the flavour
6. Simmer the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking
7. Blend Until Smooth: Once cooked, use a handheld blender to blend the sauce until smooth.
8. Store: Allow to cool and refrigerate.
Your homemade tomato sauce is now ready to complement your pizza or favourite dishes!

You can also add red pepper or celery. This sauce can be used as a pasta sauce, or as your pizza base, or cooked with some green beans to make them more exciting. There are a lot of uses for this sauce and it lasts up to 7 days stored in the fridge.
