Baltimore Fish Cakes🐠

Luxuriously Moreish Fish

What’s Cooking Today? 👩🏻‍🍳

I know not everyone likes fish…but, when you make it in such a fun way, who can resist? The best part of the recipe is to use the masher to get your potatoes nice and smooth! Poaching salmon is easy too!

Let’s make some Baltimore Fishcakes 🍥

This is what you will need for this recipe: 🥣🥄

Ingredients 🥔🌿🍳

  • 350g Potatoes (2 and ⅕ cups)

  • ½  Tablespoon Natural Yoghurt

  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika

  • Flat Leaf Parsley

  • Chopped Dill

  • 2 Spring Onions

  • 1 Salmon Fillet

  • 1 Beaten Egg

  • Salt and Pepper

  • ½ Tablespoon Flour

  • Vegetable Oil for Frying

Method 📖

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes, place them in a saucepan, cover with water and bring them to a boil.

  2. Strain once boiled and mash them up.

  3. Stir the yoghurt, paprika, herbs and spring onions into the potatoes.

  4. Place the salmon into a pan, cover with water, and cook for about 10 minutes.

  5. Flake the cooked salmon into the mashed potatoes.

  6. Crack and check the egg and scramble it up well.

  7. Add the beaten egg and season well.

  8. Mix everything together.

  9. Divide the mixture into 2 to 8 portions.

  10. Shape each into a ball and flatten with your hand.

  11. Lightly dust with flour.

  12. Add the oil into a frying pan and fry each fish cake until golden brown.

Fish cakes go very well with spinach or any other green vegetable.

Don’t Forget! 📌

You can leave off the yoghurt if you want to make a parev version, however, the texture will be slightly dryer, but nothing wrong with having it that way. Everything is already cooked, so frying just gives it that nice brown colour.
